About the Artist - Rosalie Stern

From Dye Brush to Mouse

Digital Art

I love color and I spent 39 years of my life coloring hair. Then my body told me it was time to get off my feet. But I couldnít imagine a life without being able to express myself colorfully and creatively. I decided to join the digital age and registered at Raritan Valley Community College where I majored in Multimedia Communication. In May 2002 I graduated with a 4.00 average. I was also awarded the Certificate of Excellence for my department and was the valedictorian! I spent the next year taking advanced and independent studies of the major graphic software packages at Somerset County Technical Institute.

Now I am happily adding color to my world with the use of a mouse instead of a dye brush. I have two modes of artistic expression. The first, Digital Art, is created using two very powerful graphic software packages, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. The second, tradigital, is created using black and white traditional medium such as pen & ink then giving it a life of color digitally using Adobe Photoshop.

My art is more than a way to express myself in color; it also speaks of joy, unity, holistic living, and just plain fun. My goal of adding color to the world hasnít changed, just my medium has. I love what I am doing and when someone else loves it I feel joy. When they take it home with them I feel a great sense of accomplishment.
